SIT Team Summary (Patrick)
  • Mobile Reference and Circulation: Samsung Galaxy Notes and iPads at STE. Notes are currently not in use but iPads are used for Mobile Workflow and Paging Lists. Notes belong to Allen. HEI and JUN would like to have Mobile Circ as well. IT will purchase a keyboard and Bluetooth scanner for JUN (for quick check-ins only). Laurie would like a final count for satchels. Will locations with RFID Tags need satchels? Will YOU need a satchel? The mobile device software is called Meraki.
  • Express Check Percentages: Previous average was below 50%, currently at 74% (across the board)
  • Vocera: Used at STE, ROB, and KEN
  • U Drive: Managers and Assistant Managers are encouraged to use this (IN PROGRESS)
  • Laptop Checkout Machine: ROB will receive this after renovation
  • Mobile Device Management System: ROCKY software (IN PROGRESS)
  • Searchable Intranet: (STALLED)
  • G Drive Cleanup: (STALLED)
  • Faxing/Scanning Capabilities: (IN PROGRESS)
  • Evanced Naming Convention: Saima is working on this
  • Incident Reports: Yolanda saves on G Drive. Please add names of customers when possible
  • Reservation and Printing Solutions: IT is working on this. Is wireless printing possible? Contract with Coin Copier has ended
  • Passport Line Management: Q-Less will do a demo on December 8th at 3pm (buzzer system)
  • Replacement for Early Literacy Stations: Crayola Kiosks
Sirsi User Groups (Tim)
  • Is it possible to merge family accounts?
  • This is possible, but policies need to be created. In addition to this, the registration form must be reformatted.
  • Staff and customers must understand that the primary account holder will be responsible for entire account, including fines, lost book charges, etc. For example, one child's fines will be applied to the entire account.
  • Rules need to be applied across the board.
  • Policy must be easily explainable to both staff and customers.
  • Tim will research other library systems
  • Can a field for parent's card # be added to Sirsi?
Crayola Kiosks (Patrick)
  • IT and SPACES funded the purchase of 10 Crayola Kiosks and iPads
  • Four have been installed, next up are SCE, SMI, PAR, WAL, BLU, and ALI (maybe for JUN)
  • Very popular with the kids
  • Kiosks are not under warranty, but the iPads are. Some chairs are already broken.
  • GFCI and extension cords have been ordered.
Express Check - Next Reads - Receipts (Jeff)
  • Book recommendations will no longer print out on a receipt. An email of recommendations will be an option for customers.
  • Sometimes recommendations are not consistent and/or related
  • Patrick will research recommendations.
Evanced Updates (Saima and Somer)
  • Saima is waiting on a quote
  • Program may take 6 to 8 weeks to develop; hoping for a March or April launch (pre-SRP)
  • Once completed, training will be available to staff
  • Evanced had no accountability because accounts were location based. The new system will have an account for each staff member.
  • The new system will have a list of recurring events, capability to run reports, display multiple event types, display more than two weeks worth of events, and have better search options
  • Some of the categories in Evanced are Community Engagement-specific (this is for their reporting purposes)
  • Saima will need a test group for the new system
  • Changes suggested does not include Evanced's Summer Reader; HPL's Youth Services group will continue to use Summer Reader.
Virtual Library Cards (Saima)
  • Working to add a "Virtual Library Card" on HPL app. Can be used at self-check machines; PIN# will still need to be entered. The virtual library card will only be available at select locations (3M issues)
  • Book Check- the ability for customers to check out items using mobile app. What about thumpers/security issues? This needs to be tested.
Reservation System (Patrick)
  • Envisionware System is a reservation system, not a queue system. When a customer signs up for a session, it will give them a designated time. But if a customer does not use up their entire hour, another customer can use the computer during that time. This seems to pose some issues.
  • The software may also be able to generate a user number with a one-week expiration date. This can replace Computer Use cards. What about problem patrons? There will be no way to track them.
Payment Card Industry (PCI) Compliance (Jeff)
  • A pin pad will be added to Telecheck machines. Installations are scheduled for this month. Jeff will coordinate with Mary and Laurie.
  • Pin pads will be connected wirelessly, even on self-check machines
  • To be completed by January 1.
  • DIX and STA are dead zones
Kids' Homework Resources and Databases
  • Is there an easier way to access these? IT has a meeting coming up that will discuss this.
