In House Use Materials Count (Pedro)
  • Sally Bates and Melissa Ryans are planning to launch a pilot at KAS (still deciding on a date)
  • Scan In House Use Materials in Sirsi
  • Could iPads be used for this (Mobile Circ)?
  • Sorters will probably not be able to do it; does the sorter generate reports?
  • Best option is probably the iPad
  • Circ stats may be affected; needs to be executed consistently and system-wide so data is consistent.
  • How will this affect workflow at locations?
  • The system has to be able to determine what is being pulled off the shelves but not getting checked out (genre, audience, etc); this will be beneficial in determining what to purchase in the future
  • The following people need to be contacted since circ numbers will be affected: Mary Hammond, Sally Bates, Sarah Karow, and Esther Reyes
  • Setup will not be a problem since the Wizard is already set up in Sirsi
  • ELT will ultimately decide whether to do it or not
  • KAS is a great location to test in-house use
QLess Demo Update (Patrick's Summary)
  • Patrick created a summary of the QLess Demo (see below)
  • Will this be beneficial in the long run?
  • Will this help the staff? Will they be less involved?
  • $15,000 for 3 years, 4 locations
  • Can QLess give us a trial period?
  • Can QLess make reservations that includes a cutoff time?
  • How far in advance can you make a reservation? Same day only?
  • What about a sudden location closing?
  • QLess will give us a better estimate of each location's wait time
  • Can QLess give a demo for the SIT Team?
  • Is QLess already a City vendor?
  • What will be the increase in price if HPL opts for the 2-way communication?
  • What will be the increase in price if HPL opens up more passport locations?
Virtual Library Services (Saima)
     Mobile App Enhancements
  • Banner announcement (more striking)
  • "Popular This Week" Feature (virtual bookshelf)
  • Virtual Library Card. Go to My Account, enter card number, hit submit, barcode will show up on screen (with card number underneath barcode). Saima tried it at Central, but it did not work. Locations with 8400 3M Series Models need to test it out.
  • May need to revise policy; may have issues at full-service desk, but probably not at self-check machines
  • May need to have disclaimer that states: "May not work at all locations."
  • Is this method secure, and if not, how do we make it secure?
     Events Module Update
  • Worksite vendor will start work this month; hoping for a launch in either late March or early April
  • Saima will need a test group, then will provide training for staff
  • Events will no longer be in Evanced (except SRP)
     Web Content/Social Media Call Out
  • Staff can send requests through a spreadsheet
  • Promote HPL events through social media
RFID Sites Update (Jeff)
  • Will do a site visit at PAR on 1/11/16
  • HEI visit complete; having issues with the desk (needs to be ADA Compliant)- this needs to be a JOC but there are three JOCs ahead. Can gates be switched around? Get gates for main entrance? Can one self-check machine be installed now, then one later?
  • JUN sorter having some challenges (funding and design); IT may have to contact 3M directly
  • Mary drafted a schedule of the RFID projects
  • If a challenge comes up and it was not anticipated in the budget, it makes it difficult to move forward with the project
  • Each RFID setup is designed specifically for each location so everything is done efficiently and effectively.
Verizon Cradle Updates/Telecheck Machines (Jeff)
  • Any issues, call Help Desk or HITS
  • Email Celeste with issues, due COB 1/11/15
  • Verizon Cradles were not connected to self-check machines
  • Some locations are unable to take credit card transactions
  • Verizon should be going back to sites
  • Is there a way for staff to test it? Dimitri should have given instructions on how to void a transaction
  • IT will have a meeting with Financial Services
Open Discussion
  • On Reference Tab on Intranet: "SirsiDynix Known Issues"
  • Laurie thanked Belinda Cox for working with students on their case study (weeding): sorting from the front end, use colored labels, some books may be sellable to Amazon, change terminology from "discard" to "damaged," have two separate stamps ("Friends" stamp and "Discard" stamp)
