Virtual Services Update (Saima)
Intranet
- New Intranet coming soon
- Will include staff photos doing day-to-day library duties
- Each division will own their content
- Will be dynamic and searchable
- Staff Directory will include photos
- Launch in October
- Phased roll out
- Staff blogs must be audited
- 2018 - slowly migrate blogger content
- Each division will have a blog
- New information going out this week regarding fines
- STA, ALI, KAS, and PAR will be the new additions
- Very popular and good feedback from customers
- Featured article in the Houston Chronicle
- Hotspots for Passport locations?
- Still ok to use paper application
- BLU is the next location
- All documents available on the Training Portal
- More than 1000 registrations in July
- Each location will have different terminal set ups
- If a customer's registration is declined, staff can still create a user record and make a note in the account (include that the customer agrees to borrower agreement and that customer was declined)
- The Surface is not compatible with Sirsi; not working on public or staff wifi
- Working very slowly at PAR
- May have training at the next Managers Meeting
- Available at Helpdesk for 3-week checkout
- Will Dumbwands lessen the missing list? STE will try it out; Senior managers can rotate among grouping
- Training by Dominick
- Hand held case is preferred by staff
- Missing List, Claims Returned, and Paging are all easier
- Paging List uses real time
- Uses One Note (can mark up document)
- Tablets can also create barcodes, change pin #s, and count In-House Use
- May need surge protectors for charging; notify Digital Strategies
- Laptop/device with Sirsi and Hot Spot for locations in case the internet goes down
- Usage is low
- Cannot be added to catalog computers (filters won't allow computer to go to certain websites)
- Digital Strategies is trying to load it to all desktops
- VIN and CEN will switch machines
- Belinda schedules drivers and prioritizes by size of location
- Use "Special Projects" form for priority pick ups
- Suggest customers to take donations to the Friends Warehouse
- Contact Friends first to schedule drop off at https://www.friendsofhpl.org/donate-books/
- Volunteer opportunities Bit.ly/friendsvolunteer
- Contact LMS to see if they want donations added to the locations first
- Saima will add this info to Friends section in the website
- Neatoscan can be rolled out to other locations; Train the Trainer at Managers Meeting; Dominick will share the document with Mary
- iTeams had issues
- Envisionware will conduct a test in the Teen Room on 8/4/17
- Computers will be walk ups until they are all filled up, then will be reservations
- If a customer does not use all of their time, another customer can use the remaining time
