VIRTUAL LIBRARY SERVICES (Saima)
Event Module
- Event Module training on November 17, 2016, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
- Attendees will receive 2 hours of training credit
E-Books Page
- Page has been revised; looks better and cleaner; text has been edited
- Lauren is working on comparison chart
Online Registration for New Cardholders
- QUIPO has real-time address verification
- CEN and JUN will be pilot locations; possible launch in early 2017
- This will give our customer access to our online resources
- All applications will be online eventually
- Will gradually change for all locations
- City Legal has approved on an online agreement
- Staff will be trained
- The form is simple and must be filled out by the customer; information will be populated in Workflows
- There will be a separate form for existing customers to update their information
- Will this allow staff to sign up customers at outreach events?
Job Readiness
- Mary requested that this be bumped up higher on page; will send content to Saima
Mobile Hotspots
- Will circulate to customers; Hotspot kit will include an HP notebook and a hotspot device
- DIX and ACR will be pilot locations
- Still working on checkout policy, limitations, returning locations, and fines/fees (needs to be approved by City Council)
Social Media
- Encourage staff to share/tag HPL social media pages
TEEN ROOM POLICY (Patrick)
- This is currently an unwritten rule
- Teen Rooms are designated for teens at certain times of the day
- There is a sign in CEN's Teen Room ('This space is INTENDED")
- JUN has already had issues with prohibiting adults from entering the area
- The Teen Room is to encourage teens to be independent and have their own space (free of adults)
- This should be written in the policy if it will be implemented system wide (for locations with separate Teen Rooms)
- Will teens be kept out of Adult areas?
- Staff will need training on how to handle various scenarios
- Kallie will set up a committee to gather ideas to create best practices that is fair to both customers and staff
JUNGMAN'S VETERAN'S DAY EVENT (Dominick)
- Thursday, November 10, 2016, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
- Hosted by Dominick and Tim
- Photos, memorabilia, information about Veterans Services, letter writing activity for children
- Dominick will contact Marjorie for publicity and advertising
JUNGMAN GRAND OPENING (Dominick)
- Mostly positive response from customers; getting critiques about building design
- Should have a debriefing session with all departments involved to discuss how to close and open a building (collection, staffing, technology, etc.) so that we are well-prepared to deal with issues
FLOOR PLANS on APP (Patrick)
- John Middleton will provide blank forms and staff at each location can fill it out
- John will create PDFs and Saima can add it to the app
THOUGHT PLAN UPDATE
- Dr. Lawson wanted more questions; Mary revised the forms
- Any HPL staff member can submit an idea (3 formats will be available)
- End of the year award?
- SIT Team will review and provide feedback
- Celeste will collect submissions and create a report for review
- JUN, LOO, MNT are pilot locations
- Neatoscan determines if an item is sellable on Amazon (discards and donations)
- If there is no negative impact on FIDS, then it will be implemented at other locations
