Virtual Services Update (Lauren)
Events Module Training
- Next training is on March 3, 2017 (sign up on the Training Portal)
Meescan
- Project is moving forward
- Check out items with phone app
- Will be deployed soon (JUN and YOU first)
- Communications is working on signage
- Pad desensitizes items
- Software will be able to block items (holds)
Online Library Card Registration
- QUIPO software
- Library Card Application is almost ready
- Soft launch will be on the website
- 3 pilot locations - CEN and 2 neighborhood libraries (KEN, JUN, or JOH)
- There will be training for staff
- Can be used for outreaches (anywhere with Wi-Fi)
- If customers want to check items out, they can come in and get a physical card
Digital Strategies Updates (Jeff)
Mobile Circ
- Digital Strategies will be purchasing 10 iPads, keyboards, pouches, Bluetooth scanners, and mobile circ software
- Will not be used for checkouts (recover PIN#s, book search, etc.)
Q Less
- PO has been created
- Patrick and Jeff will have a conference call with Q Less on Monday
- Interface will be designed specifically for HPL
- Customers will be texted information; locations won't be so congested
- If a customer does not have a phone with text capabilities, they can make a reservation with a staff member
- Customers can sign up online
- Communications is working on flyers
- This will be available to all passport sites
- Department of State will need to be notified of the changes.
- Survey can be texted to customers
Self-Check Payment
- Funding is available to fix issues for 28 machines
- All 3 machines at STE will be fixed; 2 at BRA, 1 at FRX, and CEN will update XP computers
- $0.50 charge for customers if they pay at home
- Self Check Machines will be purchased for MEY, SMI, CAR, MAN, and JOH
- SCE will also have a self check machine
- Funding will be requested to RFID tag CEN and remaining locations
Reach Devices
- Communications is working on DVD content
- Will be deployed to locations that currently have a TV and DVD player
- TVs have been ordered for locations
- New content will be added through the site/cloud
Next Reads
- Shows up on screen and customers can tap and view recommendations
- Is it printable?
Niche Academy (Mary and Laurie)
- A learning platform purchased by Digital Strategies
- Purchased for Techlink
- Videos for training purposes (ex: Ancestry, Access 360, Freegal, Hoopla)
- HPL can create content
- Power Point can be turned into a Niche video
Indoor Bookdrops (Patrick)
- At Alief, customers are directed to place books in indoor bookdrop, DVDs are checked in at the CSD immediately. There are no checkouts at the CSD. If customers want a receipt, then a staff member can check in their items (an average of 5 to 7 customers want a receipt). Has worked well for the team at Alief.
- RFID Sleeve for Bookdrop - check in will re-sensitize item; staff will still have to handle each item
- HIL and COL will get indoor bookdrops installed
- CEN might have an indoor bookdrop installed in the parking garage lobby
Passport Phone Number (Patrick)
- Centralized phone number with a phone tree, give general information to customers (fees, paperwork, etc.)
- Thanks to Thuy for assisting with the fillable form
NFC Tags
- Download app from the Play Store
- QR codes for Flip Kits, Passport Services information, reading lists
Statistics
- Is there a better way (instead of hash marks) to record customer usage for the Crayola Kiosks? Mary will contact Robin Cabrera for suggestions; how about parental control apps?
- Should kiosks be checked every 15 minutes?
- Kiosks should be sight line from CSD; 2 iPads have been stolen this week
